You've all heard the expression....
Yesterday I made a foolish descision to take the easy option in running and use the timeform ratings to determine my selections for the days racing.
I had one huge mother of a night on the turps on Saturday night, attending a mates 40th birthday party and boy, was I suffering big time yesterday.
In hindsight, I should have stayed well clear of the pc as I was in no state to be setting my focus on anything at all, never mind race trading.
Anyway... I paid the price. I lost heavily on the first three or four races and was chasing my tail for the rest of the evening. I decided that if I got close to $200 down, I would leave it at that and take the loss. I managed to edge close to that figure by the twelvth race so, much to the annoyance of the gambler in me, I bailed out.. just shy of the $200 loss for the day.
Two things I learned from the day were;
1: Do not trade when you cannot completely focus on what you are doing, be it feeling ill, or feeling hungover, or both!
2: Do not be swayed by other peoples opinions.. your own instinct and judgement are whats important.. stick with them!
I've decided from tonight to set a target for the first 5 races. If I make the target earlier, I will bail out. Whatever happens I will finish on the day at 5 races. I've got a busy week this week at work, so I need to get to bed relatively early.. hence the 5 race limit. Most days the 5 races will be done and dusted by midnight Aussie time.. lets see how that pans out!
Good luck all!!
